Lignum vitae mortar and pestle c1800
Mortar measures 8.75 inches high and 5.5 inches wide, with a 4 inch opening. Pestle measures 9 inches long. They both were turned from a single piece of lignum vitae, a particularly dense and beautifully shaded hardwood. Two objects of this size made from a single piece of lignum vitae are rare. Both pieces are original to one another. For a similar but larger example, please see North East Auctions "The collection of Miriam and Arthur Spector", page 8, lot 508.

Early American brass bed warmer c 1780
Early American Country brass bed warmer c 1780. Measures 43.5 inches long and 11 x 3 inches across its brass cover. This bed warmer has a wonderful tulip design on its cover and is in excellent condition. Most every bed warmer we come across has either damage or major repairs. This bed warmer is in the pristine original condition.

Early American country kitchen wooden maple bowl c1800
Early American country kitchen wooden maple bowl. New England c1800. This period bowl was made from a single block of solid maple wood. Most early bowls have line cracks or repairs. This one is in excellent original condition, retaining its deep rich old untouched patina. Measures 15.5 inches wide by 14 inches long and 5 inches deep.

17th or 18th century Spanish brass mortar and pestle
17th to 18th century Spanish brass mortar and pestle. Measures 3.5 inches high and 4 inches wide. All original. To see a similar example go to Sotheby's European Works of Art, Arms and Armour, Furniture and Tapestries catalogue New York January 12, and 13 th 1991 item 234. As early as the 15th century mortars and pestles were used by Ancient Apothecaries to grind herbs to be made into medicines. Pronounced mortero majadero in Spanish.
